Ladies Auxiliary

BACKGROUND

The Ladies Auxiliary was officially formed on February 26, 1936 in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the request of the Royal North West Mounted Police (R.N.W.M.P.) Vancouver Division, now the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

This was the first RCMP Veterans’ Ladies Auxiliary formed in Canada and will be celebrating its 87th Anniversary in February 2023.

We are:

(a) wives/partners, widows, daughters, and granddaughters of retired male RCMP members;

(b) retired female RCMP members (their daughters and granddaughters), and

(c) Associate members (civilian females who have been employed by the Force).

We are a separate entity from the Veterans’ Association with our own elected Executive and projects, but also lend support to the Veterans’ Association.  Our Auxiliary donates financially to Vancouver/Lower Mainland charities as part of our annual Outreach.

MONTHLY REPORT, FEBRUARY 2023

‘Celebration of Life’ for Ladies Auxiliary Life Member, Helen Brown:  Helen would have celebrated her 101st Birthday on March 14, 2023 but she passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023.  The family is holding her Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 18th at 11:30 a.m. at “Jubilee United Church,” 7571 Gray Ave. (at Rumble St.), Burnaby, B.C. with reception following in the Church Hall next door.  The family welcomes all Ladies Auxiliary members who can attend.  Helen asked that donations be made to St. Michael’s Centre Therapists’ Team, 7451 Sussex Ave., Burnaby, B.C., V5J 5C2, or to a charity of one’s choice.

Proposed Ladies Auxiliary Luncheon/Meeting, March 2, 2023:  Due to very few members of the Ladies Auxiliary able to attend the luncheon/meeting on this date due to a variety of reasons, the caterers at “Hazelmere” have been informed that this event, on March 2nd, is now cancelled.  Ladies Auxiliary members will be advised of future Ladies Auxiliary luncheon/meetings by a circulated report since we do not have an active phone committee at present.

R.C.M.P.
