Canadian Police & Peace Officers’ Memorial
The Canadian Police & Peace Officer Memorial and Pavilion are located on Parliament Hill – directly behind the Parliament building.
For those Veterans who have not been to Ottawa to view the memorial, we have provided below some recent photographs of this memorial and pavilion.
The pavilion has it own history and is noted on a bronze plaque as follows:
This summer pavilion originally built in 1877 by Public Works Canada under the direction of the Chief Architect, Thomas Seaton Scott, and stood on this side until it was demolished in 1956. It was rebuilt in 1992 by Public Works and Government Services Canada with funding from the Canadian Police Association and The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
Dedicated as a National Police Memorial on March 22, 1994, the pavilion is a gift to the people of Canada from the Canadian Police Officers in memory of their fallen comrades.
You may wish to visit the Police & Peace Officers’ Memorial website to obtain more details and check their database which lists all the name of Canadian officers killed in the line of duty. Check out their website
Finally, we have included a video tribute to this memorial and the officers killed on duty.
