Over the past few weeks, Ric has received many old Force related photographs from both RCMP Veterans and family members.  Noted photographs have been shared for the general interest in the Force and the contributions made by past Force members.

The first photograph was submitted by Veteran Bill Sedler and is a view of one of the troop barrack sleeping areas in the “B” Block building at RCMP “Depot” Division.

Member at Surrey Detachment discovered the following photograph of Constable Walter Franklin Young – Reg. #4349. He joined the Force on March 21, 1905 and was dismissed on May 21, 1908. He served in “K” Division – Edmonton, Athabasca and Calgary.

It appeared that Walter had a strong draw to liquor. On October 7, 1907- he was convicted in Service Court for intoxication and filed $10. In 1907, he was assigned to work on the Peace to Yukon trail and received added pay of 50 cents a day.

On December 27, 1907, Walter was again found guilty in Service Court for intoxication and fined $10 by Supt. Deane. Then on May 21, 1908, Walter was convicted for over staying his pass and received 7 days of hard labour and was dismissed from the Force after completing his sentence.
