Opportunity to Help
I am reaching out today as the Canadian Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help with their newest program launched in 2020- called the Friendly Calls Program.
This telephone reassurance style program is offered to anyone over the age of 18, who may be, but not limited to, at risk for or experiencing loneliness and social isolation.
The program consists of having an individual paired with a Red Cross volunteer who would call on a pre-scheduled basis. The call would be tailored to the needs and wants of the individual, as either a quick 2-minute call to check-in or a longer call as a more social, friendly chat.
We were hoping you would be able to share this volunteer opportunity with members of your organization. Volunteering in this program can be done remotely from the comfort of your own home and on your own schedule.
Individuals interested in becoming a volunteer for this program can apply online at the Redcross.ca/volunteer. The role is listed as Friendly Call Program Volunteer – Atl.
Should you have any questions about the program, or how to apply, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
