NORTHWEST TERRITORIES LONG SERVICE IN POLICING AWARD
On September 9th 2025, the Northwest Territories held its inaugural Long Service in Policing awards ceremony in which 49 RCMP employees were recognised for completing at least ten years of service to the people of the Northwest Territories. This first year the award was only available to those employees currently working in the NWT.
An awards ceremony and dispersals will happen annually.
Application can be made at any time. For full details and description of the award please see the attached directive and images.
I am excited to announce that this award is now available to employees who have previously served within the Northwest Territories and meet the eligibility requirements.

- Have completed a minimum of 10 cumulative years (120 months) of eligible service in the NWT.
- Have maintained good standing throughout the qualifying period.
- Periods of disciplinary action, rounded to the nearest month, do not count as eligible service.

- Additional awards are granted at five-year increments beyond the initial 10 years.
- Retired employees may receive the award if they meet all eligibility requirements.
- Posthumous awards may be granted, with presentation to the next of kin.
