Ass’t Comm’r Edward Stevenson Hammond Reg # 12370/O.392

I recently received a link of story in the Legion magazine written by retired A/Comm’r Hammond who left the RCMP to become a member of the Provost Corps during WWII. The story he wrote was about his being involved in the failed Dieppe invasion. He was fortunate to live through it and return to England, he was a L/Cpl at the time of the invasion latrer rising to the rank of Major. He returned to the RCMP and retired as an A/Comm’r. He died while living in Cloverdale 1997 and is burried in Langley. I was at Surrey Det. during Hammond’s last years and never had the opportunity to talk with him, a missed opportunity to hear his “Tales of the Force”.
Hammond was the son of Reg # 3701, who served in the NWMP, RNWMP and RCMP. Imagines the stories he could tell!
Hammond was father of Reg # 19880 and the grandfather of Reg # 42391
