With love and gratitude for a life well lived we announce the death of Edward Denis Moore at home surrounded by his loving family.
Denis was born and raised in Vancouver to Herbert John and Gladys Mary (Littlehales) Moore. After attending Athlone Private School and Lord Byng High he signed the engagement papers to join the RCMP. In Jan.1955 he travelled from Vancouver by train to Regina, Saskatchewan where he encountered cold, snow and Gorse his horse who could sense he was a city boy! After training at Depot in Regina and completion in Ottawa he travelled in full Red Serge via CNR to Edmonton and on to Claresholm, Alberta, to his first detachment where he made lifelong friends.
For the next 10 years Denis served in various detachments around southern Alberta including Cardston, Fort McLeod, and Vauxhall. He was posted to Calgary GIS in 1963 and was the first Plain Clothes officer in Banff, Alberta. He served in Commercial Crime sections in Edmonton and Ottawa returning to his home town of Vancouver and retiring as the Superintendent in charge of Commercial Crime for BC in 1989. Throughout his career he served the Force and the Country with integrity and loyalty.
Following a fulfilling and rewarding career in the RCMP Denis served the BC Brewer’s Council as an Investigator for 8 years. Denis was an active community volunteer – Chair of Delta Hospital Board, Vice Chair of South Fraser Health Region and Chair of Board of Variance for Corporation of Delta
A true gentleman, a devoted and proud father of his two sons and a kind and thoughtful husband who loved to walk and enjoy cruise holidays.
Predeceased by his parents, brothers Pete and Rod and sisters-in-law Eileen and Flo, nephew Jack and niece Penny. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years Barbara, sons Keith (Janet) and Doug (Cheré), grand children Brock (Lauren Neely) and Taylor (Trevor Humhej) nieces Susan (Don Ellen) Jill (Don Taylor), nephews David and Tim (Jan Olsen)
Many thanks to the North Delta Senior Men’s Synchronized Swim Team (now the coffee group) which loyally included Denis in their Tuesday morning java jolt.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 23rd, 2p.m. In the ballroom at the Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course, 5133 Springs Blvd. Tsawwassen.
If friends so wish memorial donations may be made to the Delta Hospital Foundation.
